Before you download PC Satellite TV software, you should exercise caution as well as prepare yourself and computer. There are a few things you should keep in mind and do to safeguard your computer. It would be wise to download the free required software to see how they work with your computer, before actually buying the merchant’s product. There are several free software that PC merchants will throw in their packages (at no charge to you) in order for a Satellite TV to PC software to work.
In fact, prior to or while downloading the merchant’s software package, you will be asked or prompted to download certain free software. So why not do it now to see if downloading them goes smoothly and works on your computer. But before we do that, lets start with six tips to help make this process safer and smoother.
IMPORTANT! Not all of the tips here will apply to MAC and Linux OS (operating systems)
Tip One
The free McAfee SiteAdvisor is a very useful plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. What it does is tests, analyzes and rates websites to give you detailed information and alerts to safeguard your computer from spyware, spam, viruses, etc. This protects you from dangerous downloads, misuse of personal data, browser hijacking and more. You can browse with more peace of mind with security on your side. System requirements: Windows or Vista; Internet Explorer 6 or higher; Firefox 1.5 and above.

Tip Two
If you don’t have the free Firefox browser, We encourage you to download it and start using it. This is a cutting-edge browser and is actually better than the IE (Internet Explorer) browser. Go to the Mozilla site to learn more and download the Free Firefox Browser now. If you want to know the differences between both browsers, go to Firefox vs. IE (it’s the same site).
Tip Three
Your computer should already be protected with an Anti-Virus Software installed. This helps to protect your computer from unwanted viruses and is the smartest thing you can do to avoid problems. Don’t download anything from the Internet without it or your computer could suffer the consequences later. Again you need McAfee, a very popular and most trustworthy line of security software. Check out the “Virus Removal Tools” first. There are other free scanning tools to check out as well. However, while the scans are free--if a problem is detected on your computer, you must purchase the product to be rid of it.

Tip Four
Another security measure you should consider seriously is safeguarding your computer from Spyware/Adware. These malicious creatures can cause many problems after downloading stuff from the Net. So you will want to protect your computer from them, even though these PC Satellite TV merchants says their software are safe spyware/adware-free. This doesn’t mean that everything else you download from the Net thereon will be spyware/adware-free. These products also offer free scans but again once a problem is detected, you must pay to fix it.
We recommend visiting CBMall where you’ll find a list of these security products. Feel free to check out other types of products there also. CB Mall offers digital products--from very popular e-books about anything imaginable to software products. You also do a search for anti-virus software there as well. Just click “Home” and perform any search you want.
Or, you can search and review free and free-trial security software by clicking here CNET Download.
Tip Five
Prior to downloading any FTA (free-to-air) Satellite TV to PC software including the ones found on my PC Satellite TV Review page, there are other required free software to download. You may not already know this but these products are not standalone software. They rely on other software in order for them to work. Part of this has to do with different types of special codecs that a Satellite TV for PC - TV players must use to play for instance movies, other videos, and audio.
Below is a list of free software that all of these merchant will asked you to download or you will be prompted during the downloading process. It’s best to download them now to see if the downloading goes well and the TV player software actually works. IMPORTANT! The one crucial area here is making sure that you follow all system requirements. You must know your OS (operating system) and download a software that’s compatible to your OS. Otherwise, the merchant’s PC Satellite TV player will not work, once downloaded.
Tip Six

Not all of them will be compatible. So be sure to look for the ones for MAC and Linux OS on my Satellite TV on PC Reviews’ page. Particularly #4 (Direct PCTV includes MAC & Linux OS and Live Feeds TV includes MAC & Linux OS).
Tip Six
WinZip for Windows/Vista OS - This is optional. Some Satellite TV to PC software such as the Satellite PC Pro contains compressed zip files. It makes downloading and bringing together related files go smoother. However, not always easy for newbies that why the Satellite PC Pro merchant created video tutorials to help with this process. You will be required to unzip files in order to install the software. Again, you only do this is some cases--not all merchants require their software to be unzipped to install. Click here to get the WinZip 45-day free-trial.
Remember, an Internet broadband, wifi, or broadband card/USB connections is required. Forget dial-up! Even though a merchant says it will work.
These are five tips to follow in preparation to safeguarding your computer and for a smother PC Satellite TV software download/installation process. Tip #5 and #6 don’t have to be performed now. You can wait until you actually download one of the software packages from my PC Satellite TV Review page. But you will have to pay the small one-time downloading fee. When downloading all the free software in Tip #5, you have the opportunity to test the free software on your computer to see if they work first before spending any money. This applies to Windows-based and Vista OS.
As for MAC and Linux users, the best thing to do is follow the merchants downloading process for all that’s requirement. You can also ask the merchant questions by sending an email. I use a Windows-based OS so I’m not familiar with all the requirements.
I didn't including this information as a tip, because I'm not exactly sure anymore whether or not it's needed. Sometimes certain video codecs (particularly some movies) didn't play in the Ares TV player. I had to download the VLC Player to play those movies. I'm not certain why this happened. But if you run across an issue like the I'm describing, just use the VLC player instead--it works great. Sometimes you'll get the audio with Ares but not the video.
